The dealer fee trap
Solar is sold on the monthly payment. It is the only number you are ever shown. Here is everything stacked behind it.
The honest price before the door-to-door channel. You are never shown this number.
What the salesman shows you
$138/mo
The only number on the quote. It escalates 2.9% every year.
What you actually finance
$35,379
An $18,000 system, marked up $17,379 before you saw a single number.
You were sold a payment, not a system
The solar channel sells a monthly number, set just under your power bill so it feels like a win. The system cost, the commissions, and the overhead are never on the quote. QuiqNest does the opposite. QuiqBridge™ finances the honest cost and builds equity you own, with Clear-Title Solar™ from day one.
Why you never see the lower price
Federal rules forbid raising a price because someone finances. So the channel bakes the overhead into the sticker for everyone and frames the cash number as a discount. The price you are quoted, as a monthly payment, already contains the financing markup. There is no quote before the overhead, by design.
The cheapest-looking rate is the trap
At 3.99 percent the payment looks best on the board, the lowest monthly of the three. It carries the largest dealer fee, 34.99% in seller's points measured against the inflated balance. The rate that reads cheapest is the one that costs you the most.
The number you were never meant to see
Solar financing companies hand dealers a fee calculator marked internal use only, not to be shared with customers. The dealer fee is designed never to reach your eyes. There is no line item on your quote and nothing on your statement. By the time the loan funds, it is folded into your principal and invisible.
The November 2 catch
Under UAD 3.6, solar financed with a UCC-1 fixture filing on your equipment does not contribute to your home's appraised value. You paid the inflated balance. Your appraisal will not reflect any of it. With QuiqBridge™, you get Clear-Title Solar™ from the day it is installed.
Real system cost is QuiqNest's honest price. Setter and salesperson commissions are typical door-to-door channel amounts. Dealer fee appears on loan documents as seller's points measured against the financed balance. Monthly payment reflects the lender's escalating initial payment (2.9% annual increase), scaled to your system cost. Based on a leading solar lender's own internal dealer calculator. 25 year term.
